A little interesting History of Green Turtle
Cay
Green Turtle Cay was established at the
end of the American Revolutionary War in
1784 by the people who wished to stay loyal
to the crown and they fled New England
after America became independent. Shortly
after, families began arriving from Virginia
and the Carolinas.
New Plymouth, a picturesque New England
style town is the only town on Green Turtle
Cay. There are many amenities in this town
such as gift shops, grocery stores, ice
cream shops, liquor stores, and of course
the famous Ms. Emily's Blue Bee Bar
serving their World Famous Goombay
Smash (a refreshing tropical rum punch).
.
The town also has many attractions for you
site seers out there who love to enjoy
historic places.
. Albert Lowe Museum
. The town's original Jail
. Vert's Model Ship Shoppe
. The Loyalist Memorial Sculpture Garden
Green Turtle Cay offers pictorial serene
beaches the entire length of the island on
the Atlantic side. The island also offers
many protected anchorages such as Coco
Bay, Black Sound, White Sound, and the
Sea of Abaco.
Abaco has the third largest barrier reefs in
the world. This reef runs along the island of
